Choice is between Specialized Rockhopper Comp FSRxc, Jamis Dakar Comp, Fuji Diamond Lite 2, or Giant NRS 3. Only a few $'s seperate all of these and they are all available at lbs's. Is there enough difference between these to sweat it or should I buy on price alone? The specs are starting to confuse me. They all can be made to fit correctly. What would you do????
Ride them all and buy the one that fits you best.KMan

Since they are all comparable and in your price range, I'm sure components are similiar. Generally Giant has the "best bang for the buck" so to speak. Personally I would try and ride all of them, even if it is just extended parking lot time and buy the one that "feels" or "fits" best.

I'd go for the Specialized. It is fully active, meaning it doesn't lock out the suspension under braking or when off the saddle. The only complaint I've heard is that the seatpost has a weird rearward offset and the bars have a wierd bend. It has a true Horst link which is supposed to keep the rear hooked up very well under all types of terrain and braking. The NRS is a good bike, but it's design locks out the suspension under braking and isn't very active when pedaling off the saddle. The Dakar gets good reviews, but I still like the Spec. due to the Horst link. Don't know much about the Fuji. Guess it boils down to whether you want fully active or semi-active suspension. At least try to ride both the Spec.and the Giant to get a sense of how the diff.types of suspension feels to you, then decide which you like better. Dif.riders will swear by either, depending on riding styles.
for feedbacks..older guy

go to product reviews under full suspensions. See what owners feel about their bikes. Then test ride those you think have more pluses than minuses based on your own priorities. Adjust the bikes shocks to your weight before test riding.
