| Castellano Fango | Haystack Calhoun Mar 10, 2003 5:14 PM | | I saw the review for this bike in MBA. Does anybody know anything else about the bike? Has anybody ridden one? Does look durable enough for years of riding? |
| I wouldn't hesitate.... | Shylock Mar 10, 2003 6:14 PM | | ...if I was looking for a softail. Castellano knows what he's doing.
I rode the old Ibis Ripley designed by the same guy. It basically felt like a cushy hardtail. Unless you have the money for a ti softail from Moots or Seven, the Fango looks hard to beat.
Feel the gin |
| except a KHS softtail frame is cheaper... | DeeEight Mar 11, 2003 3:21 AM | | and Airborne Titanium and Dean both have Ti softtail frames also. Peyto is
another offering a steel softtail. A custom peyto ridiculight softtail is
only about $800US for the frame. |
| KHS? Well, if someone was interested in trying a ST bike.... | Mackie Mar 11, 2003 5:25 AM | | I have a pristine (never built) KHS soft tail frame, a 2000 (I think) 17 inch ST Comp.
I'd let it go for a song, if someone wanted to try out the ST design.
I bought it to try as an SS, but never got around to it.
Just trying to help, not trying to spam. |
| how much does the khs st go for? nm | dbAbuser Mar 11, 2003 12:06 PM | | |
| Email me off the site and we'll talk about it | Mackie Mar 11, 2003 12:36 PM | | I'm willing to wheel & deal, but the site is not the place for it.
thanks.

| re: Castellano Fango | peoples Mar 10, 2003 6:25 PM | | There are three reviews of the Fango and 15 of its previous incarnation, the Ibis Ripley, here on the mtbr site. Go to the search function on the front page. You can check out what those riders have to say.
The website for Castellano stuff is www.castellanodesigns.com. The chainstay has a lifetime warranty and frame carries the industry-standard 5 year guarantee. I've been riding my Fango for a few months and it's my favorite mtb of all time; starting with a Miyata Ridge Runner in 1984 and burning through about 8 others since then. That includes titanium softails. This bike is fast, low maintenance and quiet! |
| Do you work or Castellano designs? | Winston Mar 11, 2003 10:53 PM | | Your handle looks familier. |
| Check the standover height. When looking at this bike a female | Mackie Mar 11, 2003 2:27 AM | | friend of mine (quite short) pointed out to me that the smallest size - 13.5 inches - has an almost 30 inch standover! The 18 inch has a standover over 32 inches.
It just gets taller from there. Whenever I see a frame with an apparent oddball dimension, I always like to test it first.
Good luck wth your bike purchase. |
