Hollowpoint News: New '03.5 dw-links shipped...næstep

Just an FYI, got an email from Todd w/ Iron Horse. The new linkages have shipped for the '03 Hollowpoint frames that were having the rear triangle/seat tube interference problem. Todd referred to these at "03.5 links" but I don't know what that means in terms of a design change. From the picture he attached, looks like there are 2 travel positions available, as he elluded to in a previous post.

Todd also indicated the warranty front triangles would be in for those in need beginning in July. Good show!

The new linkages, if I remember correctly, will reduce travel to 4.5". I don't recall what the second, short travel setting will provide. I'm not super anxious to install them since I'm not having clearance issues on my frame, but I might give them a go just for the sake of curiousity.

Is this the true DW-link alluded to in the MBA article?snowman

Thanks for any info. Also, let me know if it rides any differently.
Not really sure...næstep

...because I know Dave has a freeride or DH dw-link on the drawing board that he just showed off last week, and he's said the dw-link will naturally evolve with age, but can two travel positions be considered an evolution? I'm just not sure.

I still have to get around to posting a review. Maybe I can do a comparison of the two linkages while I'm at it. I don't expect much, except for maybe slightly lower shock pressure with the slightly reduced travel.

It rides incredible. I don't know what MBA was smoking. It also looks amazing in person. The internet doesn't do it justice. Thanks for all your info, I think I'm gonna order one.
Yay! See, I'm not crazy after all! And I'll betcha you even rode the "incomplete" dw-link...næstep

...and liked it!

Where'd you finally find one to demo?

Oh, and I looked up Todd's old post on the Monkey. Looks like the travel settings on the new linkage will be 4.5" and 3.75".

Now for my last stupid question of the day: Is a medium a 19 or 17 inch bike? I thought the large was the 19 inch until I ran across some message traffic to suggest that the medium was a 19 inch.
Also, the hollowpoint felt identical to the way the the Blur rides, so how MBA can rate the Blur excellent & the Hollowpoint poorly is beyond me.
If you rode it in the carpark maybe thats..malcolm

why it feels the same?
You really need to get off road to see differences.
MBA didnt like the Hollowpoint for sure.- they cant be doing any advertising with them. oops did I say that LOL.

Ah -- so you finally test-rode a Blur...næstep

I remember from your earlier posts you were having trouble finding one to demo. I'm curious to try one myself since the Hollowpoint designer has tried to distance his dw-link from the VPP in various postings.

The IH sizing is X-Small to Large, 15" to 21". The Medium is the 19" bike.

I've read probably half a dozen half-assed conspiracy theories attempting to explain that MBA hit-piece review of the Hollowpoint, but one thing is for certain: MBA overinflated the shock on a suspension where proper sag is intergral to proper function.
