| NRS 1 freeride....... | MmHmM Jun 14, 2003 12:48 PM | | I am 180 lbs. and own a Giant NRS 1. How high of a drop (to flat) can the bike hold up too. |
| Why ??? Dude Sell it and buy another bike!! (NM) | bikebrain Jun 14, 2003 1:52 PM | | |
| Dont bother - You'll ruin you frame! Time for a change.......... | Trevor! Jun 14, 2003 2:24 PM | | If you want to stick with the Family move to the AC or VT line or the DH line. The NRS will not take a bashing doing DH runs or Drops or whatever!
Trevor!
What you running upfront? a Sid? Yeah that'll take a hammering for sure! LOL! |
| re: NRS 1 freeride....... | MmHmM Jun 14, 2003 4:39 PM | | Yea im running a SID Team but an changing to Fox Talas ASAP. Still need an estimate on drop height!!!!! |
| re: NRS 1 freeride....... | bike_freak Jun 14, 2003 5:42 PM | | around 3 feet maybe alittle more if your real smooth. BUT the nrs will not take that for long it's a xc bike, the occasional drop might be ok, but if you start doing it regulary it will die on you. Get a giant Vt or even better a AC |
| re: NRS 1 freeride....... | malcolm Jun 14, 2003 7:44 PM | | Yes, the NRS could only take a 2-3 foot at the most.
But then again I just got a Jamis XLT1 and the frame was identical weight to my 03 NRS Air frame.-for what thats worth.

| What about....... | MmHmM Jun 15, 2003 12:30 PM | | Would a Jamis XLT 2.O hold up better to drops? What about Kona Dawg Dee-Lux? Ive been reading posts ^^^^^^ and it seems alot of people like the XLT 2.0..... |
| What about....... | malcolm Jun 15, 2003 2:39 PM | | In theory it should do as it has a lot more travel to soak it up.
But then again it is a Trail bike but does come with strong hubs and F219 rims. And does come woth some resonably strong looking gussetts.
I think the Giant VT looks a little meatier in the frame-alsmost overbuilt but it can have nearly six inches in the rear-pitty about the crap RS on the front.
I just wouldnt go too big with an XLT and you will be fine.
They also have a lifetime warranty on frame so thats positive.
