I am 180 lbs. and own a Giant NRS 1. How high of a drop (to flat) can the bike hold up too.

Dont bother - You'll ruin you frame! Time for a change..........Trevor!

If you want to stick with the Family move to the AC or VT line or the DH line. The NRS will not take a bashing doing DH runs or Drops or whatever!

Trevor!

What you running upfront? a Sid? Yeah that'll take a hammering for sure! LOL!

around 3 feet maybe alittle more if your real smooth. BUT the nrs will not take that for long it's a xc bike, the occasional drop might be ok, but if you start doing it regulary it will die on you. Get a giant Vt or even better a AC

Yes, the NRS could only take a 2-3 foot at the most.
But then again I just got a Jamis XLT1 and the frame was identical weight to my 03 NRS Air frame.-for what thats worth.

Would a Jamis XLT 2.O hold up better to drops? What about Kona Dawg Dee-Lux? Ive been reading posts ^^^^^^ and it seems alot of people like the XLT 2.0.....

In theory it should do as it has a lot more travel to soak it up.
But then again it is a Trail bike but does come with strong hubs and F219 rims. And does come woth some resonably strong looking gussetts.
I think the Giant VT looks a little meatier in the frame-alsmost overbuilt but it can have nearly six inches in the rear-pitty about the crap RS on the front.
I just wouldnt go too big with an XLT and you will be fine.
They also have a lifetime warranty on frame so thats positive.
Malc.
