Sep 18, 2003 3:08 AM | | The pic looks "dingy" because it was taken at night inside, but it is a lot more yellow than gold. They replaced the frames because the old linkages allowed the rear triangle to hit the seat stay on the front. There were several threads on the issue on this board and others. I have not ridden it yet, will have to build it back up.
The rear shock is a FOX FLOAT R, with adjustable air sleeve which is stock with the expert model. |

Sep 18, 2003 9:20 AM | | or perhaps I should say I really like mine. I bought the Expert in May, and seem to have gotten one without the linkage clearance problem. Apparently, the problem existed on only a short production run. I've only twiddled with the rear shock a little bit, and I've got it set wonderfully plush without being mushy. When I picked mine up from the shop, the shop owner gave me a copy of an e-mail from Iron Horse about the optimum setup for the Float AVA. The way the bike is designed, it works best in only part of the range of adjustment, and for the life of me, I can't remember the details. I have the hardcopy at home, and if you e-me, I'll either scan it or re-type it for ya' if you want it. You may be able to get it straight from Iron Horse, too. kts3 at columbia dot edu.
