Whats new for 04, Trailbike for XC/Light free rideFortch

I'm looking for a do all bike. A buddy of mine has a Jamis XLT1.0 which I like but find a little crampted. Im 5'8" 30" inseam 170lbs and ride agressive XC I have an XC racer so I will likely lean to the freeride side of available trail bikes. That said, keep in mind I will still be "trail riding" (Read, every ride turns into a race) with FSR's, Jekels, and some hard tail hold outs. I would like to stay under $2500 if I can.
Thanks for your Help.

Because you only can spend 2,500 bones, and you still want to beat your XC buddies on hardtails, and still do some light freeriding, I think the only bike that can do all these things is probably a Heckler with a 5th coil shock, and pick up a extra 5th air shock. For the fork either get a Talas or a Vanilla coil.
You are kinda tring to get a bike that really does not exist, there are other great bikes or frames out there, but Im still considering the price range for a complete bike that you are looking for. There are a lot of Kona Dawg/Bear riders out there that like there bikes too, I just think that an extra inch is nice to have for basicly the same weight frame. Plus you get a $600 dollar shock on the SC bikes!
Im not sure of the price that the new Ventana X5 will be, but it sure sounds sweet, there's claim of $2500. 5 Spot's on the boards, so I guess that the X5 will be in there too.
So there's 2 production type frames/bikes and 2 highend bikes to look at.
