| Novice MTber I weight 300lb........ | weesto Sep 22, 2003 6:02 AM | | I really need some quality feedback...I bought a '03 Giant Warp Ds2 and I am thinking I will need to change out the rear shocks....and eventaully the front.......what I need is suggestions on the types of rear shocks that will able to support my weight. Also I am interested in you thoughts about the Giant Products. |

Assuming you bought from an LBS (local bike shop), I would take it to them and explain that your bike is not "setup" properly for someone of your size, and ask them to order the proper coils for your weight. |

Don't upgrade anything unless it breaks. Those people who upgrade half their bike the first month should have bought a more expensive model in the first place. Have your wheels checked for tension after a few rides. Spend a little time snooping around this board, and you'll learn some things. If you get into mt biking you'll want to bank some money for a new bike in a year or 3 anyway, and upgrading an entry level bike won't give you the same quality ride as a more expensive bike.
I'd also try to keep the wheels on the ground. The Warp is not a freeride bike, especially at your stature. |
| fattirewilly is right... | damion Sep 22, 2003 3:34 PM | | Go looking for stiffer springs for your fork and shock, and do other upgrades as needed, not wanted. As your skill progresses, continue to save some money for a new ride. Read as many magazines as you can get your hands on, and keep at it. Good Luck. |
