| Top Tube and Bike Choices | Tony B Sep 22, 2003 5:49 PM | | Okay, I am looking to upgrade to a dual suspesion bike. From my research the leading candidate is the Kona Dawg. I want something that will hold up to my weight (225lbs) and the terrain of Central Texas (Austin area- lots of rock gardens). Here is my concern, I have always read that Kona's have really short top tubes, especially compared to the Fisher I currently ride. After researching this I am not so sure this is true. Here are some of the specs I found in the 20 to 21" sizes from various manufacturers: Kona Dawg 24.4" TT, Specialized, 24.25"TT, Jamis 24.08"TT, Santa Cruz 24.1"TT, Turner 24.8"TT. The only reason this concerns me is beacause I am tall (6'4"). Should I be concerned or does the short top tube refer more to Kona's freeride bikes? |
