took me long enough, but.... (10 posts)
| took me long enough, but.... | puffy Sep 23, 2003 6:30 AM | | finally finished the build on my xce. went on my maiden voyage saturday. all i can say is wow!
coming of a racer x i noticed a difference immediately. plusher... more stable(not as quick) and the extra inch of travel was definetly a plus for my east coast trails. the frame also felt very stiff but i will not split hairs with titus over which is stiffer... it's all good.
went with a fox instead of zokes for a change and am happy with the vanilla r... a good value.
avid mechanicals setup easily, broke in quickly and work nicely. i am happy i don't have to deal with bleeds anymore.
profile mtb cranks feel nice and stiff for my 220 and dropping weight.
all in all i'm very happy with my purchase and believe it was worth the wait. and even though my new creation weighs more that the titus. i can't feel it on the trail. i do feel it when i put the bike on the roof rack.
happy trails to all,
puffy
p.s. no regrets about waiting for a five spot.
p.s.s. shout out to ventanarama for hooking me up with good deals and great service. |
| Well it's about time;).... | Ventanarama Sep 23, 2003 7:21 AM | | Hey Puffy, long time since I've talked to you. How have you been? I didn't realize you hadn't ever finished building that thing. Glad to hear that you got it done and that it's working out well, congrats.

| Congratulations! | Kpicha Sep 23, 2003 7:22 AM | | I was wondering how much longer it was going to take! You've got some great patience and self control, that's for sure!
I'm glad to hear that you're liking it-I'm sure you'll have many happy miles to come :)
And where are the pics? After that long wait, we all deserve to see some shots :)
Cheers,

| Congratulations! | puffy Sep 23, 2003 7:38 AM | | my daughter took precedence over finishing the build. i'm generally not that patient but she's my little sweety.

| Ahh, yes, the little ones... | Kpicha Sep 23, 2003 7:50 AM | | how old is she? I've got a "cutie" myself - she's the lone girl in between 3 rough housing boys. She's got her work cut out for her!
It amazes me to see how much time people have to ride, and then I remember, I've got something better to take care of ;) |
| Good for you, man | Tscheezy Sep 23, 2003 9:45 AM | | Wow, you've been "building" since about Dec/Jan? Must be some kid, lol. That is great. Get some fenders and studded tires for it and get ready for winter! I mount 2.5" tires at about 25 psi on 40mm DH rims for snow sometimes.
Dunno if you had a chance to see Turner_Tech yet. If not, surf on over.
Take it easy, Puf.

| Good for you, man | puffy Sep 23, 2003 10:55 AM | | yep, december to be exact. "some kid" she is!
i checked out turner tech and i think you've got toooo much free time on your hands :). as for the tires; i'm going to buy some king iso shells and build up a set of wheels with f219's i picked up from larry. that way i can just switch the internals when they're done and continue to ride what i've got now. not exactly 40mm but then i don't exactly live in the tundra. i do ride all year long tho.
btw, i can't imagine why anyone would NEED a romic for their xce.
the fox rc with the right spring feels really good.
when you and barny settle down and propogate you'll wonder where all the time went yourself.
keep the turner tech stuff coming!
peace out
