Buying a bike on eBaygte385u

Has anyone bought a bike on eBay? Any advice before i waste a lot of money? I am looking to get a hardtail in the $700-$500 range. I am partial to Konas cause everyone i know who has one loves 'em. I already went to a bike shop and talked to the guy and i think that a 20" kona will fit me. However i am not sure about size/comfort differences between specific models.

also, on a different note: there seem to be a lot of people, both individual people and stores, selling their GTs (esp. i-Drives and Zaskars) on eBay (for relatively cheap). I know that they went bankrupt several times but did that have a big impact on the quality of their bikes?

later,
Jason

eBay - This is the place to find the greatest deals! Advice - Go to a shop and size up the specific bike you are looking for and then hunt/wait for it on eBay. Don't comprimise size - wait for what you want and go get it.

Buy only from "experienced" sellers with positive feedback. Read what others have said about dealing with them. Don't buy from someone new to eBay - could be risky.

GT - I just replaced my '92 Zascar. Best hardtail ever! In 2003-2004 I think the quality is still there - support is another story.... I know a guy who waited X months for a replacement derailleur hanger. Parts and support were a big concern during my recent bike search (bought it on eBay) and the single largest reason I did not go with my beloved GT. Happy Bidding!
