Syncros Big Box rims with LX disc hubs...ActionJackson

Man am I glad someone recomended this board!!!

I bought me a Specialized Hardrock comp a month or two ago. Just last week I was messing around tapping the front brake and endoing. Well I went to far and bailed off the bike still holding the bars. The back end swung down, hit the ground and bent the rim. The LBS was able to save it for me free of charge. But it seems that the Alex DM-20 stock rims that came on it are nothing special. My LBS said they could make me a killer deal on a set of Syncros Big Box rims with LX disc hubs for $125. Hows that sound to you for a rider on a budget? I am a old timer small time BMX freak and just plan on regular riding with the occasional jump and or endo. Do you think this purchase would be a wise one? Thanks in advance and ride on!

LX Disc hubs????? Deore or XT but not LX. There are much better deals on the net. I thought syncros went under!

You can always find good prices on Sun Rhyno lites w/ XT Disc hubs.

Must have been XT then and not LX. Sorry. He also said something about Hayes disc hubs. Which do you think are better, XT or Hayes. I agree I could find a better deal. But that would be online right? And then I would have to take the wheels to the LBS for them to swap out the casette and true them. Where as if I just buy the wheels from the LBS they will take care of them for the next 365 days for free! Syncross filing chapter7 I have no idea. That might be why they are only $125 for the set. Any feed back would be greatly appreciated!

I have 2 sets and have had 0 problems. I think the Hayes hubs are made by DT/Hugi and should be good units. I could't find any info on the Syncros rims. The 2 listed in the product reviews had very low ratings. The syncros web site hasn't been updated since 1999!

See what your LBS can do with either hub and a different rim maybe Sun, Mavic or WTB.
