I wanna rig up a test fixture to do comparative stiffness testing on various spoke and lacing combos. I was thinking what I could do is just use a standard disc brake hub, and mount it to the fixture using the brake rotor bolt holes. That way I'd have the hub affixed pretty solidly to the fixture, without having to a whole bunch of work machining a seat for the hubshell. I could just get a thickish hunk of aluminum bar, and use a rotor as the template, so no measuring. Drill 6 appropriate size holes and tap them with the appropriate threads, drill a big center hole to provide clearance for the end of the hub to slip into, and then clamp the bar into my bench vise. Figured I'd use aluminum because cutting the big clearance hole would be tough in steel.
So, what size metric tap do I need to cut some threads for this thing? |

like a rotor? If you tap the plate you will strip out those threads
when you tighten it to the hub.
May be I just don't see what type of device you are making.
