The DS1-XC has a welded seam, averages about 412g, and is manufactued in the U.S.A. It's intended as a light-weight XC rim and is primarily sold as an aftermarket product.

The DS2-XC has a pinned joint, averages over 480g, and is made in Taiwan/China. It's intended as a low-cost "general-use" rim primarily marketed to OEM manufacturers such as Cannondale.
