XC rims adviceSAIG

I need recommendations on XC rims for 200lbs rider. I don't do drops and would like a durable set of wheels. I would like to also know where to get the best deals on these rims. I will build them up with old XT hubs.

Thanks in Advance

More consistent in weight than the Valiants, durable enough for this 200 lb rider, and easy to build. (Rears seem to be consitent at 420g, and fronts vary from right under 400g to 425g in my experience, but I've had 1/2 dozen tops.)

I've got a rear mustang that's on it's third bike. Shop around and you should be able to get each rim for +/- $40.

IMHO, the mustangs are a strong rim and you just so happen to be on the light side of the scale.

Cambriabike.com has the mustangs for 30something. I would also recommend the Mavic X517, which I recently built up and love it. I avoided the Mustangs because I flat spotted a Bont. SS (which is slightly below the Mustang). The X517 usually goes for 50ish, but I got mine from cambria for 39 because of excess stock. If you mail order them I would recommend calling to order because I went to order through the internet and it would only let me do ground UPS which is 7-10 days. I called and got the rim and nips sent priority (3-day) and it was 7 smacks cheaper than UPS. Go figure. Good Luck.
