24" vs 26" rear wheel(3 posts)

24" vs 26" rear wheelenduro 2002 rider

I ride an eduro pro with mavic 317 wheels. I free ride, dirt jump, down hill, and some cross country. I have ruined my back wheel, and plan on replacing it with a Atomic trail pimp rim. my question is if I should go to a 24" over a 26" wheel, what would be the benefit? thank for any and all input. shawn.
better off asking in DH.....peds

.....but i'll give you what i know. 26"=higher top speed, and rolls over stuff easier/less likly to get caught buy a rut.

24" stronger, stiffer (all wheels which are built right are stiff; so take this claim with a the proverbial grain 'o salt), faster to get up to speed, and lowers the BB/center of gravity....

so there you go, the 26" vs. 24" debate in laymans terms.

cheers

(but really, try the DH or even the trials board)
go with the 26" wheel...geeves

Stick with the 26", unless you are just going into freeriding and DH.
The 24" will lower the BB and slacken the head tube angle. You can
corner better and also pick up the front end quicker. This is good
for going down, but it will add a disadvantage for going uphill for XC, which you still want to retain, right?
