Valiant Wheels on Stock Santacruz - Often Out of TrueSilverCruz

The wheels that came stock on my Chameleon seem to go out of true once a month. I'm basically a XC rider, nothing over a 1 - 2 foot drop, and I'm 165 lbs. Is this a common experience?
Common, yes. Innevitable, maybe. Correctable, usually.Seb

Light rims can go out of true pretty easily under some hard riding. You make your riding sound light, but its a stiff new bike that you ride a lot and casually do 12+ inch drops with, right? And 165 is no lightweight- sure, its close to average, but there's a reason they call light componants light, and not average!

The fault with wheels that true up OK but then don't stay true is almost always low spoke tension, spoke windup, and / or inadequite stress relieving. A good wheelbuilder can fix those easily, or you can do it yourself with the help of one of the many wheelbuilding guides on the web. Fixing the problem now will really help avoid damging your rims later, especialy if the cause is low spoke tension.
Thanks for the thoughtful responseSilverCruz
