Pads to use with ceramic rims???Otter

I recently got a brand new set of Crossmax (non-ust if it matters)and I run V brakes (Avid single digits). I've heard differing views on this, but is it ok to keep running the standard brake pads with the rims since they're ceramic or should I go to a pad designed for ceramic rims?
You will eat up regular pads with new ceramic rims...Metroid

You really need to start with ceramic pads with new rims. They are very coarse at first. Once they wear in, you can use regular pads again. If you've got the newer Avids with Rim Wrangler 2 cartridges (RW2), you can use regular Kool Stops green pads which are usually cheaper. If you have the older Avids with Rim Wrangler cartridges, you'll have to use the Avid ceramic pads (also made by Kool Stop).
I would recommend that you....Sal

Keep running your regular pads until they wear out. The ceramic will eat them up in 3-4 rides or so. Then switch to ceramic specific pads and don't clean your rims, wiping the dirt off is OK but you want to keep the "black stuff" on there. This should give better braking and the rims/pads will not squeal. I like the Avid green pads...
