Nov 21, 2002 6:59 AM | | What would the distinct advantage of lacing a wheel 4X. In most mountain biking situations I can't think of reason to go with 4X lacing over 3X. Bike messengers use it on fixed gear bikes to improve start/stop control and make a supple wheel. All things we don't really need. A 3X wheel will be plenty stiff, accelerate almost as good, and be easier to fix. Just curious I guess......jdcamb |

The 3x is more than enough to transmit power on a well built wheel. 4x seems to be a poor choice for most bike applications. |
