| how difficult to replace hub....................... | Zeke Nov 21, 2002 6:02 PM | | I bought a practically new wheelset with 317 rims and Specialized disc hubs, the rear freehub is shot, and Specialized is being very difficult of about a replacement, they need a picture, and need to know what bike it came off, total BS.
Anyway, I have a Hayes Superlight disc rear hub, the flanges are measuring the same as the Specialized hub. How difficult to change hubs? What do I need, what can I keep.
thanks in advance |
| What you need.................. | Mike T. Nov 22, 2002 6:42 AM | | .....are simple tools and a basic set of wheelbuilding instructions.
Of course you can re-use the rim and the spokes too if the hub specs are the same. With Sheldon Brown's Wheelbuilding Page and my own
wheelbuilding tips you're good to go. |
| Thanks Mike T........success!!! | Zeke Nov 24, 2002 9:24 PM | | I installed new hub, piece of cake with your instructions. My wife was out of town all weekend, so I had time to be patient. Which turned out to be the key. Not difficult at all. I'm very pleased with myself for doing this.
Thanks again. |
