need help selecting rim...(2 posts)

need help selecting rim...jcs
Dec 2, 2002 6:36 PM
I tacoed my front wheel (rim broken) and need to rebuild. Figured I would do both since the rear has been tweaked pretty good once too. I ride an XCE on east coast type trails,6'2" 185lb, King disc hubs 32h. My favorite tires (so far) are Vertical Pros and have been using Velocity VXC rims and 14/15 spokes. Need something strong and stiff. Wieght is not an issue. Not usually hard on wheels but I dont usually crash either. Thanks for any help.

There are many good rims out there. I am about your size (well maybe 200lbs) and on my FS, disc brake bike I have been using the MAvic 317's with 14/15 spokes, brass nips and vertical pros. The 317's are excellent rims, but my next pair will be with a slightly wider rim like the MAvic 219's.
