| Disc Wheel/Brake recommendations? | Puzman Dec 9, 2002 7:40 AM | | I'm thinking about making the conversion to disc this winter. I ride a LocoMoto with a Z3 100 up front, I weigh 165, ride New England singletrack (i.e. sometimes wet/muddy). I'd like to keep the bike reasonably light (about 27 lbs now). Also, I do the occasional day of downhilling at Mt. Snow, but I'm primarily an xc rider.
Looking for wheel and brake recommendations. Not sure of my price range yet.
Am leaning towards Avid Mechanicals (have SD-7 levers) but would like to hear about some other good options (Deore hydraulic? Julies? XT's? )
Hubs? King if I can afford them, but what are some bombproof and cheaper alternatives? What weight spokes? Brass or Alloy nips? Thanks in advance for the advice! |
