| New tires = numb hands | AJ Jun 10, 2003 6:58 AM | | Got some new Specialized Roll X Pro tires and about hour into the ride my hands got really numb. This has never happened to me before. I guess the tires dont roll smoothly enough or they dont absorb vibrations enough? Anyone have this before? |
| I doubt it's the tires... | shiggy©® Jun 10, 2003 12:31 PM | | ...What were your old tires? What air pressure are you using (old tires and new tires)? Did you change anything else? What bike do you ride? What kind of fork?

| I doubt it's the tires... | AJ Jun 10, 2003 4:20 PM | | Im riding a trek hardtail with a sid front fork, I replaced the bontrager jones tires with these. AP @ 40psi - I'll try to lower it a bit more. I didnt change anything else on the bike. Very strange. |
| Numb hands usually means too hard a grip or too much | Duckman Jun 10, 2003 5:27 PM | | ..weight up forward, which could be the bike setup, or you not getting far enough back on descents, etc. The grip part "could" be cause of you have more braking efficency now?, and/or you were sorta had too much weight forward to begin with, and the new tires are bring'n this trait out. Just thro'n stuff out there. I tried foam grips and my hands started getting numb when riding fast on most rides all of a sudden. I had to grip them harder to get the same control. Wasted energy. Much more then the gain of 30-70gms lost. Went to some middle of the rode Serfas grips(regarding weight) and it went completely away and hasn't happened since. Yup. Cheap too.:) Also, back to my first thought, look at your bar to/and seat measurements(t-tube, stem size and rise, spacers?, bar design, etc). Too far apart? Too low up front? not enough bar sweep back....that kinda stuff. |
