Crossmax SL UST Disc vs. XTR UST Disc(3 posts)

Crossmax SL UST Disc vs. XTR UST Discz
Jun 15, 2003 6:38 PM
I'm running a set of Mavic's Crossroc Disc right now and looking to upgrade a bit to some new lighter XC wheels. I've been extremely impressed with the SL Discs that I've seen around but I've not had enough first hand experience with the XTR Disc wheels to exclude them from my list of possibilities. Can anyone give a decent comparison between the two or simply offer a bit of insite as to the advantages of one versus the other. Any insite from riders who've used either would be most helpful.
Any comments are most welcome.

Thanks for the help,
z

I recently purchased a set of Crossmax SLs and am pretty happy with them so far. The biggest difference to me was the fact that crossax wheels use a standard rotor mount and I believe the XTRs use the XTR only rotor mount. Given that I already have hope minis the choice was made.

That said, MTB Action magazine recently gave the new XTR wheels a rather glowing review.

Good luck

Yeah I also saw that review. Glowing is a good word for it. I have a set of XT/XT Levers and was thinking of going XTR/XT Lever so the splined rotor was not that big of a deal for me. The Mini's are probably the best out there anyway so I see where you were coming from. Preciate the advice.

Anybody else please throw in your own words.

Thanks,
z
