I'm not a fan of system wheels but I have not heard a bunch of bad stuff about those, (also have not heard a bunch of good stuff either...). They are an ok set of wheels.

Do you want something lighter, something more durable, or something easier to repair?

There are a lot of options. My best all round suggestion could be a set of XT hubs laced with 14/15's AL nips and a Bontrager Mustang Rimset. Should be abouts $200 and pretty darn bulletproof.

My opinions change a bit if you want durablity über alles, or lightweight over everything else. It is a balancing act, and you must decide where the tightrope lays.

durability is a major concern ...laotsu42

i used to ride very hard but i have been with out a bike since i was 18...(14 years) i am not having too much trouble getting back into shape so by summer i should be back to some rough riding but the most i am going to do until i'm used to being airborn again is 4-5 foot jumps/drops and i've heard that the crosslands won't live through that ...so i've been thinking about more durable sets but don't know where to start ...

thanks Jmz

I would try to get a handbuilt set, something like
719/xt or sun rhynos/hope bulb or if they want to swap a set try the
Mavic DeeMax
