| 2x wheels? | weltyed Jan 12, 2004 8:36 PM | | im a newbie to wheel building and have seen several 2x wheels out there. i have read and re-read the sheldon brown site and cant find info on building 2x wheels. i have read about crows foot and such, but cant find info on 2x builds.
are there any places online that discuss lacing patterns other than 3x or crows foot? if not, how do i lace up a 2x?
thanks |
| It's just............. | Mike T. Jan 13, 2004 6:47 AM | | .....like 3x only you just cross two spokes. |
| ok...so, when building them... | weltyed Jan 13, 2004 8:41 AM | | how do the hub holes and rim holes correspond? you obviously dont count the same hub holes and rim holes as you do when building a 3x...
maybe if someone could explain how to build a rear wheel that is 3x on the drive side and 2x on the non-drive side? im using a 32 hole setup.
thank you. |
| ok...so, when building them..."shorter spokes" | VernDog Jan 13, 2004 10:57 AM | | hub and rim hole location is the same as a 3x build, but spokes will be shorter for a 2x build...dtswiss.com has a spoke calculator for various rims/hubs and lace patterns...To build a 3x drive and 2x non drive, the 2x non drive spokes will be shorter, but will have nearly the same tension as the 3x drive side, thereby makeing the wheel noticeably stiffer.
