***WANTED*** I NEED YOUR OLD PARTS***TIMEX
Apr 12, 2003 9:41 AM
Hello,
I need your old 8spd parts!!!
I am an unemployed bicycle mechanic and am very broke.I am looking for cheap/free parts so I can put together a bike so that I can at least have transportation.
I was recently given a Specialized Hardrock frame with a hopelessly seized seatpost. With much perseverance and my handiness with a hacksaw blade I was able to extricate the offensive piece of aluminum. That leaves me with the task of finding the cheapest parts I can to assemble this beater of a bike. You might ask yourself what kind of self respecting bike mechanic doesn't have spare parts for a bike like this. Well the answer is quite simple. When I last moved I gave away or sold (anything of decent value) basically all of my stuff. Seeing how the cycling community here is very tiny I have not had the opportunity to find more parts locally. This is where I turn to you. What I am asking is that if you have any of the parts on the following list that you will let me have them SUPER cheap.

Headset: 1 1/8" threadless
Fork: 1 1/8" threadless, 7" steerer
Stem: 1 1/8" threadless
Handlebar: ANY
Grips: ANY
Seatpost: 30.4mm or 27.2mm x 350mm
Saddle: ANY
Quick release for seatpost: ANY
Shifters: 8spd Rapid fire
Brake levers: V brake, any
Brakes: V Brakes, any
Crankset: Mtb triple, any
Bottom Bracket: 73mmx113mm
Cassette: 8spd
Front Derailer: Bottom Pull, 31.8mm clamp
Rear derailer: ANY
Chain: 8spd
Wheels: 8spd
Tires/Tubes: 26" mtb

If you have any old junk that might fit these descriptions please contact me at:

thanks,
eric

eric i have an old 7 speed supergo bike that you can have if your are anywhere near enough to Columbus OH to come and get it. It only has a 1" steerer but there are lots of salvagable parts on it. I am not into mailing it but if you are close let me know. len
