ProMax's V-brakes are among the lowest-rated of the V-brake systems rated (and that's with over 50 people rating them, so not just one or two disgruntled people), and you often find them on bikes designed specifically to hit a really cheap price point. I'd stay away. Mechanical discs can be found for a good price on eBay fairly often. |

Jan 9, 2004 8:32 PM | | For kicks I picked up the Promax hydraulics from Pricepoint. They are actually built pretty nicely. In a review of them the author noted they always rubbing though he said it probably wasn't enough to effect their performance. I'm suspicious of how much energy you lose when that happens...plus it must prematurely wear them out. In the end, I decided to go with the better reviewed Formula hydraulics. |
